The Calm Before (The Storm)

The Calm Before (The Storm) reflects on those who bear the greatest burdens in our climate crisis. It layers imagery of fallen trees with photo reproductions from the artist's personal archive to reveal the relationship between motherhood and Mother Nature. While Mother Nature brings forth disasters like typhoons, droughts, and earthquakes, the maternal figure is adaptive in the face of such catastrophes. It questions what climate injustices and systemic failings force mothers to adapt to these conditions.
