We Carry What Carries Us is an installation piece made up of hollow plaster casts of the plastic galon found virtually everywhere in the Philippines. I cast these “containers” in plaster—a porous material—so that they are too fragile to hold any water. Each plaster galon mirrors the fragile situation of needing to physically carry potable water to one’s household every time there is no alternative source from which to drink.
